Kathok Yosel Samtenling Monastery is located at Beylangdra, one of the most sacred sites of ‘the second Buddha’ Guru Rinpoche, in Kazhi Gewog under Wangdue-Phodrang Dzongkhag. The Monastery compound consists of a Dratshang, Shedra and meditation centre with subsidiary monasteries in other parts of Bhutan. The welfare of the monks is taken care of by the Executive Committee of the monastery under the patronage of His Holiness Kathok Situ Rinpoche.
The aims and objectives of the Executive Committee, in general, are to promote peace and happiness through the propagation of the Buddha dharma. In particular, it aims to generate the principles of non-violence, compassion, and tolerance among all the practitioners of Buddhism through teachings of the Ngajur Nyingma tradition and the practice lineages of both Kathokpa and Longchen Nyingthik within Bhutan and elsewhere.
The committee also strives to promote and sustain the buddha dharma through listening, contemplation, and meditation the three main tenets of Buddhist practice (t’hoe, sam göm sum) that ultimately leads to Nirvana Awakening.
Under the spiritual leadership of Kathok Situ Rinpoche, the management is trying to preserve and develop our old age tradition Buddhist value, culture and spiritual practice. The renovation/construction of Monastery has begun privately in 2012 and is under full swing despite of financial support.
